What Benefits Are You Entitled To Receive?
Request Free ConsultationYou may know you need benefits. You may know that you are entitled to them, but you may still be wondering, “What does workers’ compensation insurance cover?” The exact benefits and amount vary depending on where you work, Missouri or Illinois, and the circumstances of your case.
At The Floyd Law Firm in St. Louis, we believe you deserve the maximum amount of benefits you are entitled to receive under workers’ compensation law. With our decades of experience and record of success, we know that we can accomplish that goal.
What benefits might you be entitled to receive?
- Medical care: This includes more than just the immediate medical tests or procedures necessary to treat an injury. It could also include ongoing care, medical devices, mobility assistive devices, and transportation costs.
- Temporary partial disability (TPD): You may be able to return to work, but unable to perform all of your previous job duties. This benefit covers situations in which you are paid less than full pay due to modified duties or schedules. These benefits continue until you are able to work without restriction or a doctor determines that you have reached “maximum medical improvement (MMI).” MMI is the point at which your injuries cannot improve and further treatment won’t help.
- Temporary total disability (TTD): You may be unable to return to work for a period of time. In these situations, TTD provides income while you recuperate or until you have reached MMI.
- Permanent partial disability (PPD): Once you have reached MMI, a doctor may determine that your ability to perform work duties will be limited forever. In this case, you may be eligible for compensation for the percentage of loss, often in a lump sum payment.
- Permanent total disability (PTD): Once you have reached MMI, a doctor may determine that you will no longer be able to work. In this case, you may be entitled to benefits for life.
- Survivor benefits: After a fatal workplace injury or complications that result in a fatality, a surviving spouse may be entitled to receive benefits for a portion of the deceased’s salary up to a statutory amount.
